Who We Are

A church for the heartland.

Heartland Springs Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational church in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Our primary objective is to help people become disciples of Jesus Christ by teaching the Bible verse by verse — engaging in worship, fostering fellowship, breaking bread together, offering prayers, and walking in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Our Conviction

We believe a healthy church is built on the Word, worship, fellowship, the breaking of bread, prayer, and the gifts of the Spirit — and that a healthy balance of these is essential for spiritual growth.

Acts 2:42
Calvary Distinctives

A fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. These convictions shape how we gather, worship, and grow together.

  1. i

    Not denominational, but not divisive.

We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such — only the over-emphasis of doctrinal differences that has led to the division of the Body of Christ.

  2. ii

Love is the only true basis for fellowship.

We believe the true basis of Christian fellowship is His agape love — greater than any differences we possess. Without it, we have no right to call ourselves Christians.

  3. iii

    Worship should be spiritual.

We remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship. We don't follow a rigid script — we follow where He leads.

  4. iv

Worship should be inspirational and intelligent.

We give a great place to music as inspiration, and we give a great emphasis to the teaching of the Word — that God Himself might instruct us how He should be worshiped.

  5. v

    Worship is fruitful.

We look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping Him. Worship that doesn't change us isn't worship at all.

Doctrinal Beliefs

What we hold to be true.

Eight articles that anchor our teaching, our worship, and our walk together.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:15–17 · 2 Peter 1:21
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:1 · Deuteronomy 6:4 · Matthew 28:19 · John 10:30
We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return to earth in power and glory.
John 10:33 · Isaiah 7:14 · Hebrews 4:15 · 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 · Acts 1:11 · Revelation 19:11–16
We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation, because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature — and that all are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ. Only by God's grace through faith alone are we saved.
John 3:16–19 · John 5:24 · Romans 3:23, 5:8–9 · Ephesians 2:8–10 · Titus 3:5
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost — those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are not unto the resurrection of damnation.
John 5:28–29
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:9 · 1 Corinthians 12:12–13 · Galatians 3:26–28
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
Romans 8:13–14 · 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20 · Ephesians 4:30, 5:18
We believe that we as Christians are examples of the love of God in this world. It is this agape love that we desire to possess — without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians.
1 John 4:16–17
"
So live for the kingdom of God. Seek to bring glory to Jesus Christ and the Lord will use you. It is my prayer, my constant and daily prayer, that God would keep me useable.
